I was excited to load this game up as I’m a big fan of Primal Megaways, and I hoped that this might be similar. Certainly within my first few presses I was treated to some sound effects directly from Primal, and it’s clear that this is a continuation of the same development cycle from Blueprint games.
Sadly, some of my favourites features from Primal haven’t found their way into this latest game, and we see no wild multipliers to help us stack up big wins. The bonus, too, is difficult to achieve as instead of the three symbols required to trigger in Primal, you now need all four letters of Tiki to start the bonus.
The game does feature the Jackpot King progressive jackpots, but it’s not something you can aim for or expect within a session, and because of this I don’t think it adds much to the day to day enjoyment of the game.
There is no option to buy the bonus here, as there is with some Megaways games; and given that the bonus is quite difficult to trigger, it may have been an oversight to leave this out. We do at least see the multiple mystery symbol line up across the reels, which is another common feature across Megaways games.
The bonus clearly has the potential to go big, and the increasing multiplier that’s so conspicuously absent from the base game is active in the bonus. Much like Temple of Treasure Megaways, you get to choose from 5, 10 or 15 free spins, with 10, 5 or 1 times multipliers respectively, or take a mystery choice which could give you any combination. This choice adds a little more risk into a feature that’s already difficult to attain, and taking a gamble will not be for the faint hearted!
Overall, Tiki Treasures was a bit of a disappointment, considering the high standards of recent Megaways games, with this incarnation maybe sacrificing too much from the base game to make way for massive wins in the bonus.
